*Camera pans to a smiling Jericho after his win against Samoa Joe, crowd pops*
*His expression suddenly turns very serious before speaking*
Jericho: 5 weeks... 35 days... 840 hours... 50,400 minutes... 3,024,000 seconds... That's how long I've been without my WWE Championship, every single second goes by, tick-tock-tick-tock. I lost my title in a fluke against Matt Hardy, got the decision reversed in my rematch because I was "too aggressive", and then got screwed in the Elimination Chamber when I was teamed up on and first eliminated. So that brings me here, the Universal Championship Tournament.
The fact of the matter is that I should just be handed the title, because we all remember what happened in our last one of these little tournaments, I surpassed 15 others to become world champion a 7th time, and in this tournament, the exact same thing is going to happen, except I'm going to have to beat twice as many people on my way to becoming an 8 time world champion. Not everybody can say they've done that, but then again, not everybody is at the level of Chris Jericho.
Take a look at these two men, Samoa Joe and Finn Balór, they've traveled the world, been champions everywhere they've been, but what does that mean to me? Nothing. What have they accomplished here in the WWE? Nothing. I've already put one in their place, and Finn is just the next to be put in his place by Chris Jericho. I don't know or care who's next, all that matters to me is that Universal Championship, and I will stop at nothing to get it. Understand? Understood.
